About Heartland Academy

We offer a
Micro-Boutique Homeschool
+ Farm-Centered Experience
for students
PreK through 5th grade.

We blend the flexibility of a homeschool environment, with the ease of educational on-ground learning opportunities on a farm-based setting that are fully optional for students to attend.
We strive to offer parents the flexibility to educate their children at home,
but have the support of pre-made academic lessons that are prepared for them weekly to make homeschooling achievable + attainable.

At Heartland Academy, we are not a school.
We make school better!

Our Educational Methodologies

Our educational philosophy is a triangulated methodology that includes a combination of Play-Based and Student-Centered learning, Environmental Application Approach, Personal Affirmations and Worldly Gratitude.

Play-Based & Student Centered Learning

When children play, they are naturally able to inquire, explore, problem solve, create, and discover the world around them through their own unique lens. Connections with social interactions (communication), creativity, critical thinking and developmental awareness of self can grow in a natural environment that fosters self-discovery, and self-autonomy that is ultimately self-led.  This approach to learning gives students the comfortability and empowerment to discover in a way that is fun, which ultimately supports the necessary development for a lifelong love of learning.

Environmental Application Approach

Which is the theory (created by our founder) that when children have purposeful and intentional opportunities to cultivate and care for the environment and living things around them, they can acquire a deeper sense of understanding of all things. Empathy and sensitivity to others around them, sense of worth and importance, cause-and-effect, responsibility and integrity and critical thinking are all behaviors that are connected to this approach to learning. This approach allows students to make connections around them in a big way, sequencing academic, social and behavioral understandings to the world around us.

Personal Affirmations and Worldly Gratitude

We value that every single child is a gift, and that they each possess gifts to share with the world. We focus on teaching students emotional-regulation, and core stability, with a main focus on self-love, love for others, and love for the greater world around them. Kindness of self and others, gratitude and mistake-friendly learning is how we practice with our students how to regulate emotions, and see beyond them.
